The playroom
The heart of the house. Everything sits at child height on open shelves so children can choose for themselves and put things back. We reset it every morning so it is calm and inviting rather than overwhelming.

Room by room
The book corner
A soft, low-lit nook with cushions and books facing outwards. Any child can take themselves here at any point in the day if they need a quiet minute — and plenty do.
The messy area
Wipe-clean floor, aprons on hooks, paint, dough, water and sand. Nothing here needs to stay tidy, which is exactly the point.
The rest room
A darkened room with individual mats and cot spaces, each with a child's own bedding. Sleep routines follow what you do at home, not a fixed timetable.
The garden
Raised beds the children plant and water, a mud kitchen, room to run and a covered area so wet days are still outdoor days. We go out every day.
How the space supports each age
Babies, 0–18 months
Floor-level play, treasure baskets and lots of one-to-one talking and singing. Feeding and sleeping follow your home routine exactly.
Toddlers, 18 months–3 years
Room to move, climb and pour. Self-care becomes part of the day: hand washing, shoes, tidying, choosing snack.
Pre-school, 3–5 years
Longer projects, mark-making, early number and phonics through play, and gentle preparation for the routines of school.
